Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 Aug 2026
MemorialReel (“the app”, “we”) is an iOS app that turns photos and video clips you choose into a slideshow video and uploads that video to your own YouTube channel. This policy explains exactly what the app accesses, what it does with it, and what leaves your device.
The short version: Your photos are processed on your iPhone. We operate no servers and never receive your media. The only place your video goes is the YouTube channel you connect. We show no ads, use no analytics or tracking SDKs, and never sell or share your data.
Information the app accesses
Photos and videos
When you select photos and clips (in the app or via the iOS share sheet), the app copies them into a private storage area on your device to build your slideshow video. This processing happens entirely on your iPhone. Your originals in the Photos library are never moved or deleted by the app. Copies used for a batch are deleted after the batch finishes, and are excluded from iCloud/iTunes device backups.
Your Google / YouTube account
To upload to your channel, you sign in with Google using the standard OAuth consent screen. The app requests only:
- Upload videos to YouTube (
youtube.upload): to publish the video you created to your channel. - Read your YouTube account (
youtube.readonly): to show which channel a video will go to and confirm processing status.
Access tokens are stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device and are used only to talk to Google’s YouTube API on your behalf. We never see or receive your Google password or tokens.
App data stored on your device
The app keeps a local database on your device recording your batches (titles, the videos you created, their YouTube links, and processing status) so it can show your history and manage uploads. This database stays on your device and is excluded from device backups.
How your video reaches YouTube
The finished video is uploaded directly from your device to YouTube using Google’s API and your account. Each upload is Private by default; you may choose Unlisted per batch. What happens to the video after it is on YouTube is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
What we do NOT do
- We do not run servers that receive your photos or videos.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and we do not build a profile of you.
- We do not access your Photos library beyond the items you explicitly select or share.
Google API Services: Limited Use
MemorialReel’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. YouTube account access is used solely to provide the in-app upload feature described above and is not transferred to others, used for advertising, or read by humans.
Your choices and control
- Disconnect & purge: In Settings you can disconnect your YouTube account and delete everything the app has stored on your device in one action. This revokes the app’s local tokens and removes staged media and the local database.
- Revoke access with Google: You can remove the app’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions.
- Remove uploaded videos: Videos already on your YouTube channel are managed by you in YouTube.
Children
MemorialReel is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
